My inspiration comes from textures and forms found in nature, particularly Lichens that I’ve come across walking in the Sussex countryside and coral themed pieces inspired by a trip to Thailand.
From the moment I was introduced to glass making I was fascinated by the varied techniques to explore within the medium. I began with traditional stained glass techniques, but became curious by the curves, textures and movement that could be created with glass. Fusing and kiln forming were a natural development in my journey.
When creating a new piece I often start with an idea and improvise. The work grows and gains texture, painted detail and shape through numerous firings. The results may differ from my original vision but that’s what makes each piece unique!. Much of my inspiration for new work comes from my local beaches and harbours.
